6^th International Consensus Conference on Concussion in Sport
A statement from the Organising Committee:

The 6th International Consensus Conference on Concussion in Sport has been confirmed and will be held in Amsterdam on 27 and 28 October 2022.

On 20 May 2022, the Organising Committee, made up of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Association Football Federation (FIFA), the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), the International Equestrian Federation (FEI), World Rugby and the International Automobile Federation (FIA), agreed that the Concussion in Sport Consensus Conference would go ahead, confirming the following:

• An updated agreement has been established by and confirmed between the six Organising Committee members.
• A review of the governance model covering the Organising Committee/Scientific Committee responsibilities has been completed. This governance model will apply to the Amsterdam Conference. Under this revised governance model, the Organising Committee is responsible for:

(i) sponsoring the conference
(ii) conference logistics
(iii) the selection of the independent Scientific Leadership Team.

Under the new governance model, members of the Organising Committee will not have any input into the scientific programme; nor are they able to sit as members of the Scientific Committee or contribute in any way to the selection of the remaining Scientific Committee members. One member of the Organising Committee will attend Scientific Committee meetings as an observer, responding to logistical questions.

The current Scientific Committee will continue under the leadership of Kathryn Schneider and Jon Patricios. The Scientific Committee Leadership Team will be enhanced to add perspectives on CTE and ethics, and will now include:

(i) Professor Robert Cantu (USA)
(ii) Professor Mike McNamee (independent medical ethicist, Wales).

• The full Scientific Committee (maximum 12 members) is responsible for all scientific reviews and the Consensus Conference scientific programme and structure.
• The Concussion in Sport Group (CISG) remains independent and has no official involvement in the organisation or delivery of the Concussion Consensus Conference. Furthermore, the Concussion Consensus Conference organisers remain committed to making any output/resources from the conference freely available to all those who wish to make use of them.

Following the Amsterdam Conference, the Organising Committee is committed to a further governance review to assess the most recent model and address issues not included in the 2022 governance review.
