Ian Al’Khafaji, MD – Introduction
Ian Al’Khafaji is an US board certified orthopaedic surgeon in Melbourne, Australia.  His clinical and research focus on preservation of the hip and knee.  He completed training at Wake Forest School of Medicine and sports fellowship training at the Kerlan-Jobe Institute.  He continued on as a knee/hip preservation fellow at OrthoSport Victoria, Hip Arthroscopy Australia, and the Melbourne Orthopaedic Group in Australia.  He is currently a medical provider for the World Surf League.

Groin pain in athletes: A review of adductor/rectus injuries (Per Hölmich, MD, DMSc)

Dr. Hölmich is a world-renowned orthopedic surgeon within the field of groin injuries in sports, and arthroscopic knee- and hip surgery. He is the founder of SORC-C, head of the Arthroscopic department at Hvidovre Hospital and a professor at the Institute of Clinical Medicine at University of Copenhagen.

-Review of relevant adductor/rectus complex anatomy.

-Discuss etiology of injury and role of non-operative modalities.

-What clinical examinations and significant imaging are required to evaluate adductor/rectus injuries?

Snap, crackle, pop: How to treat the painful snapping iliopsoas tendon (Stephen Aoki, MD, FAAOS)

Dr. Aoki, Professor and Chief of Sports Medicine, specializes in the surgical treatment of pediatric, adolescent, and adult sports injuries, primarily of the hip and knee. Dr. Aoki serves as Head Orthopaedic Team Physician for Real Salt Lake professional soccer and team physician for University of Utah Gymnastics and University of Utah Football.

-Discuss iliopsoas anatomy and its biomechanical function in the healthy hip.

Abduction malfunction: Current clinical treatments of abductor tendon tears and tendonitis (J W Thomas Byrd, MD, FAAOS)

Dr. Byrd is the founder of the Nashville Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center and team physician for the Tennessee Titans, has served as physician for the U.S. Olympic team and is a consulting orthopaedic surgeon for numerous professional sports franchises from the NFL, NHL, NBA, WNBA, MLB and MLS as well as players from the PGA, LPGA and ATP. He also serves on the Advisory Board for the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI).

-Detail anatomy of the abductor tendons and review of pathoanatomy of abductor tears and tendonitis.

-Review the relationship of lateral sided hip pathology and the degenerative lumbar spine.

Proximal hamstring injuries: Current treatment trends in 2022 (Richard C. Mather III, MD, MBA, FAAOS)

Richard C. “Chad” Mather III MD, MBA is an assistant professor and vice chairman of practice innovation in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Duke University School of Medicine and a faculty member at the Duke Clinical Research Institute. His clinical practice focuses on hip arthroscopy including both FAI and extra-articular hip endoscopy. Specifically to the hip in addition to health service research applications he conducts translational research on biomarkers and hip instability.

-Describe relevant anatomy of the proximal hamstring complex.

-Clinical examinations and significant imaging modalities to evaluate the proximal hamstring.

-Review role of non-operative modalities in treating proximal hamstring pathology.

-Detail how siatic neuritis affects treatment/outcomes.
